Bio: I have been married to a wonderful man for nine
years. My work background was in Retail Management prior to becoming a
Full-time Mother. As a member of Texans for midwifery, I am dedicated to
educating others about the quality and safety of Midwifery care. TfM is
a great organization, it is exciting to be a part of its effort to preserve
and promote access to Midwifery. As mother of five beautiful children,
I have experienced birth in a hospital, a birthcenter, and at home. My
husband and I are thankful to live in a state where we can choose what
birth attendant or setting is best for our family. It is my goal to see
TfM become a strong resource for educating and unifying midwifery supporters.
Ultimately, I hope TfM will become a visible vehicle by which Texans can
share their voices and experiences.

Bio: I am a single mom of two sons, writer, editor, and
midwifery consumer. I've spent my life between San Antonio and Austin,
in central Texas. I have written for iParenting.com and also own and publish
The
Nursing Mom's News, a monthly ezine dedicated to breastfeeding articles,
essays, and more, written by breastfeeding mothers. I moderate
a large breastfeeding support email
list. I believe the birth experience is a sacred one for everyone involved,
and provides the foundation for bonding, attachment, growth, and can be
the most empowering event in a parent's life. Unnecessary interventions
can ruin the emotional and spiritual component of giving birth, and the
right to choose where and with whom to give birth is a basic right of all
mothers.
